| Gabe will take participants through a series of technique exercises in ten intensive sessions spread throughout the year. The class will give participants a chance to focus more deeply on their technique while spending time with people and having fun. Sign up for one class, a few, or all of them. Course dates (all Saturdays except where noted, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.) September 29: Session Full October 27 Topics: Right-hand tone production; left-hand placement December 1 Topics: Key on-the-string bow strokes: detache, colle, martele, and staccato, plus left-hand placement technique (thumb issues, widening of base joints). January 12 Topics: Off-the-string bow stroke technique: spiccato, sautille, and ricochet, and we will also work on finger pressure and action for the left hand. February 23 Topics: Fine tuning of the arm: forearm and upper arm movements, smooth string crossings; plus fingerboard geography, intonation exercises, scale work.
